Welcome to Liverpool’s first supper club!

In case you’re not familiar with this concept, here’s a little bit of info to put it into context.

The first clubs were started in America during the 1930s and 1940s. Menus often featured simple American cuisine, offering cocktails and after dinner entertainment in a relaxed atmosphere. The idea was replicated in the UK not long after, attempting to mimic the ambience of the underground New York Jazz clubs, where people could enjoy dinner without the formality of a ball. These clubs were often the centre of social networking communities both in the city and in rural settings.

The “Supper Club” is currently enjoying a revival with a slightly different meaning – greater emphasis is put on ‘good food’ usually from a set menu, with a reasonable contribution fee. These small underground restaurants have been set up by foodie folk who are passionate about cooking, opening up their homes and hosting evenings with like minded guests. The intimate setting of a home offers the social aspect of a dinner party with unknown guests who share an interest in food and want to experience an alternative to formal dining. They range across the UK, but are mainly concentrated in London.
